2014: University of Toronto Gwendolyn Koldovsky Prize In Accompanying

This morning I was very happy to learn that I have been awarded the Faculty of Music's Accompaniment Prize. Along with five of my colleagues who specialise in collaborative piano repertoire at University of Toronto, I presented two songs in Walter Hall on Saturday afternoon with soprano Jennifer Krabbe - Mendelssohn's Hexenlied and Libby Larsen's Jane Seymour. The prize is $5000 and a full length recital in April with Jennifer. 

Gwendolyn Koldovsky (1906-1998) was an Ontarian born accompanist and vocal coach who studied in Toronto, London and Paris. She finally took up a position created specifically for her as teacher of accompaniment at the University of Southern California where she taught until she retired. Amongst many others, she performed with both Marilyn Horne and Lotte Lehmann. Here she is performing with Lehmann in a masterclass:
